Himmel og hav!

It's been almost a week since I came back to dark and cold Norway from the warm and sunny Brazil. I've spent most of that week beeing sick. Switching from winter to summer and back to winter that fast is probably not the best thing for your health. Well, tomorrow I'm ready for work again I guess.

The trip have been covered in a great way by Maria in her blog, so I'm just going to add a few personal experiences; The trip started a bit strange for me since I arrived Rio just to learn that my suitcase was gone. Suddenly I was there sitting in Mr. Marcello's small car with my friends and my hand luggage, heading for the Copacabana area. I decided soon that I shouldn't let this ruin my trip. And it didn't.

One of the things we (Maria, Olav and myself) did that first day was to visit Copacabana beach for a short while. It was a bit cloudy and the trip wasn't really well planned. For me it was so little planned that I went there with no clothes for swimming, no towel to sit/lay on and oops.. no sunscreen.. That turned out to be a disaster for my face, and I even got remarks from a brazilian kid at the beach later on. I didn't understand a word he said, but he was laughing and pointing at me!

The new year's celebration in Rio was amazing. The fireworks outside Copacabana was the most specatacular thing I have ever seen. Even more spectacular than the fireworks in my homeplace Siljan wich might be more sponatanious and personal but still have got a long way to go. To stand there on first row in front of 2 million people, with my feet in the water, watching it all and singing the norwegian ballad "Lys og varme" is a moment to remember (or what Aslak?).

The days in Vila Velha was diefferent compared to Rio, but we had a fantastic time thanks to Livias friends and family. Diego was driving us around, taking us to church and taking care of us. Elisa was so kind to borrow us her guitar, joining us to play cards and for a walk on the mountain. Aimée was meeting us again in Rio the day of arrival, showing us around the downtown area and following us all the way to the airport, even when we probably were a tired and uninspiring company. But most of all thanks to Arnstein and Livia for inviting us!

I could have told several short stories about pink ties, great food and drinks, samba, confusing moments, showers on the bus station and a lot more, but those things probably will appear in future coversations anyway!

I will end this post with a little lyric practice for my new friends from Brazil:

Det snør, det snør. Tiddelibom!
Det er det det gjør. Tiddelibom!
Nå snør det mye mer enn før!
Tiddelibom og huttemegtu!

Obrigado!
